Spotting -- tell me it's OK

I started spotting brown and I'm having some dull background cramps.  My doctor says that if it turns red or the cramps get worse then he'll do an u/s but doesn't want to otherwise and it's probably fine.  He keeps saying "well, you saw the h/b so the risk of m/c is very low."  And, I know that, but it was 4 weeks ago and it wasn't particularly strong and we all know that h/b doesn't always mean no m/c.

I'm a little freaked out, I have to say.  I know that as long as it isn't red we're probably OK, but it's not helping me feel less scared about it.

  1. Drink plenty of water and put your feet up in case you're just dehyrated. Let me know if you want me to head up and give you a real hug, but virtual ones are on the way. I'm sure everything is fine, just put your feet up and have DH take care of you!

  2. it's OK. remember i had a good bit of RED spotting and cramps, and a week and a half later we had a good healthy heartbeat. so try not to stress (and trust me i know how impossible that is!!). if i can hang in there, i know you can. deep breath, we'll be ok =)

  3. It's TOTALLY normal. In fact, you might see it happening if you BD or have a strenuous day. Relax, lay on your left side, drink water and do the best you can to not stress out about it.

  4. Ditto what everyone else said. It's VERY normal. Rest up and drink some water. Try to stay off your feet as much as possible. Hang in there, sweetie. I know you are freaked.

  5. Ditto to the water and putting your feet up higher than your heart for at least an hour. Try to do that every day.

My first u/s around 6 weeks, the hb was slower than your bean's. It was like 108 or 109. So your 112 was normal for that period. And I cramped all the way from 4 weeks to about 13 weeks, sometimes on a regular basis.

    Many ((hugs))

  6. I cannot imagine what you're thinking. I pray your doctor is right and everything is just fine and that's what my gut is feeling so hopefully everything is good! Please keep us updated!

  7. I too had some light spotting around 8-11 weeks off and on (especially after BDing). I completely understand your fears. I say just watch it and I don't think it is a big deal if you need to go in to your doc and just ask them to use the h/b monitor if nothing else. Definitely kup!

  8. Put those feet up and drink some water. Hopefully that will help with the cramps. I get them off and on and usually relaxing and a glass of water help. Spotting is very normal, but you could just ask for an u/s just for peace of mind!

  9. I agree with what everyone else said, although I know the only thing that will make you feel better is a scan. There's nothing wrong with calling your doc and explaining that you need that reassurance.

  10. Sending you tons of positive vibes. I totally understand your fear. Maybe a scan will make you feel better. Take it easy & know that I'm thinking of you! (((HUGS)))

  11. Sending many positive thoughts your way! Just take it easy and try to relax (I know it's easier said than done). I know lots of people who spotted during the 1st trimester and everything was fine. I know you have a strong little sticky bean in there! If it doesn't go away soon, I would have the doctor give you another u/s just for reassurance. After all you've been through, that's the least they can do!

  12. I spotted too - it's totally normal! Brown spotting is old blood. If it is bright red and lasts for a super long time then it's something to be checked. But brown spotting is normal! Ditto x10 on keeping your feet up and drinking water.

There's a lot going on in your body right now. This is the first week where your uterus really starts stretching and the placenta is growing right there with it. I know it's scary but believe me, it's ok :)

  13. I agree with others, everything is ok. Just take it easy and make sure to stay well hydrated. Lots of girls I went through IVF with had spotting off and on through 1T and all have made it to the finish line =)

  14. Hi Rebecca!
Obviously I have no personal experience, but I'd say from what I've heard from pregnant ladies and doctors that it is normal.
I suggest, when you get home, before starting dinner or any other chore, taking your shoes off, laying down on the floor next to a wall and resting your legs on the wall. It's like a lazy version of Pilates - it stretches your back and gives your legs a much needed break.
For extra calmness, put on some soothing music first and cold teabags or cucumber slices on your eyelids.
Then, just relax and imagine your spider baby safe in the womb.
    Sending positive vibes your way!
    Hugs
