Back home

The lap is done and all went well. Planning on staying hopped on on pain meeds for a little bit. Thanks for all the advice -- definitely started on the stool softeners and gas meds quickly!! Pain isn't too bad as long as I stay on the meds for right now. They keep zonking me out, though, so I thought I'd post before they kicked in again!

I got a quick review from Dr. Smiles post surgery but I was kind of out of it, so it is a little foggy. He said he did find some endo but I'm not sure how much or where. He got the fibroid out and he says it was in a location that might have been pushing on my right tube and might be what blocked it before and may have been reblocking. He said he also removed an extra fallopian tube on the left side! Weird, huh? I don't think it was a full-length tube and I'm not sure where it stopped but it sounds like it was a tube-stub or something. I have a follow-up appointment next Thursday and I think I get to see the video of the surgery. I'm oddly fascinated by that idea.

Anyway, thanks again to all of you, ladies!

  1. I'm so glad to hear that you're home and things went well! It sounds like the lap was definitely a good decision and he took care of some things that could have been hurting your chances...and yay for getting rid of an extra fallopian tube (another tube to have ectopic pregnancy in, in my view...)

Keep hopped up on the meds!

  7. Wow, an extra tube? That is crazy! I hope that he tells you more about it at your post-op. We got a copy of the video of mine after the surgery, and it was weird but cool to see what he did!

I'm glad everything went well, and I hope you take the next few days to rest up before heading back to work. :)

  8. Wow, a video? I'm not sure I'd want to watch that, if I were you, lol.
Anyhow, I'm glad that it all went well, and I also envy the fact that it's behind you. I'm due for lap in February, and my emotions are all over the place. I'll definitely be staying tuned in to your blog.

    Wishing you the best.

  9. I've been waiting for an update - I"m so glad that you posted! So WOW! An extra tube? I wonder if it was functioning and if that was what was causing issues.

Take it easy over the next couple of days. If you feel lots of chest pains, hit up some Gas X to get rid of all the extra gases trapped up in your body cavity.

    I'll be thinking of you!

  13. Happy to hear it's over and you are home and recovering! Look forward to hearing all the gory details, I remember being facinated by the pictures of my LAP too. An extra tube? Wow, I've never heard of that. Hopefully you're all cleaned up and recovery goes by quickly! Don't push yourself though, I remember it was 3 weeks before I felt 100%.
