ICLW #1 and IUI #3

Welcome anyone stopping by for ICLW!  This is my first ICLW, and I'm just getting the hang of this blogging thing!  I'm amazed how quickly I've come to love it, though.  Not much profound to say, today, just welcome!

A quick summary for those who are new:  I'm Rebecca (35) and my DH is Clay and we've been trying for our first for 18 cycles, now (about 17 months).  We were dealing with a blocked tube, but we think it's clear, now.  I also have a borderline baseline FSH (12), so we're hoping to be a little more on the proactive side.  We're in the middle of our third Femara/IUI cycle after having multiple cycles canceled due to large cysts and thin linings caused by the demon that is Clomid.

If you are new here, I'd love to have you visit my post from last week When TTC becomes IF and add your story.  Mel sent some people this way with the Roundup last week and I've really enjoyed (in a kind of happy/sad way) reading what everyone has to say.

For those playing along at home -- IUI#3 was yesterday!  It went really well -- DH's count was 58 million highly motile post-wash.  This is less than in the past (and his total motility went down overall for whatever reason) but still a huge number so we're happy about that.  I had two mature follies that definitely popped yesterday (OUCH).  So, I'm trying to stay positive about this one!

I must be watching too much Olympics coverage because I am totally seeing millions of little Apollo Ohno's and J.R. Celski's fighting their way to the front of a long line to reach my eggs as they zoom around a curve!  (DH must be, too, because he described the eggs as heading down the luge...)

  2. Welcome to blogging and ICLW :) It is really a great group. I just switched to Femara as well. I am liking it better than clomid. I wish you sucess on your IUI.

  3. It's great to hear your story! As a fellow cyst and thin-lining sufferer, I so feel your pain. Did you take any Estrogen with your Femara this round, or did your lining improve that much just by switching off the Clomid?

I love your attitude!! Awesome numbers, sounds like this IUI went greaaaat. I hope you have a little Apollo snuggling in for a nice long ride. :)

  8. i liked you TTC vs. IF post as well. i think i may have forgotted what TTC was like, but you made me think about it a bit!

i also liked you post "Not a good time to mess with me." Days like that are just a peach. So sorry about your kitty. They are our children and it hurts so much to lose one.

I hope this IUI is the end of your TTC/IF life and the beginning of your mommy life!!

    xoxo

  10. Hi Rebecca
I'm so glad it went well! Those helmets do make them look a lot like spermatozoa! They remind me of that Woody Allen movie Everything You Wanted to Know about Sex But Were Afraid to Ask - very funny!
I was watching Hannah and her Sisters the other day - there's a scene where his character finds out he has a low sperm count and can't get his wife pregnant. She suggests he might have "worn himself out" with excessive masturbation. He replies "now you're gonna start knocking my hobbies?!" LOL!
As usual, I digress. I hope your little buns are growing in the oven at a sure and steady pace and we get to hear more about them soon - baby dust!

  11. Correction: we haven't reached the bun stage yet (as it's known technically), I meant to say I wish your team of round headed athletes reaches its goal!
