Getting lapped

My department secretary is on the phone in the office next to me gushing about how her daughter is pregnant again.  About the fact that she started trying in July and is due in March or April (meaning that it happened on the first try).  Which serves to remind me that her daughter's first child was born approximately 9 months after I started trying.  And that she "timed" when she would have the kid so it would be after the semester ended -- implying that it happened on the first "try" then, too.

Getting lapped really sucks.  Especially by someone ultra-fertile. Who is 10 years younger than you.  Who has a gossipy mother who talks on the phone really loudly all the damn time to everyone she knows about everyone in her family.  Who likes to tell me that "your mother really wants grandchildren so why are you not doing anything about that?"

On the plus side -- I think I ovulated.  I'm normally a pretty regular CD14-15 O'er, but it was delayed to about CD18 this month.  Which was stressing us both out.  But, we BD'd our little hearts out.  My DH is pretty funny about it -- he seems really stressed that we may not be BD'ing enough and hitting O (which isn't a problem).  I think, at this point, he sees it all as a science experiment and wants to make sure we cover all our bases.  In a way, it makes me happy that he is so focused on it.  But, it also makes me sad that we've come to a time where "sex" is a thing of the past and "BD'ing" is pretty much all that we focus on.

Anywho... it's Friday.  I'm glad.

And, it's the second day of Rosh Hashanah -- which I almost totally forgot about because it came so early this year.  For anyone out there who celebrates -- L'Shana Tova!  Here's to an incredible New Year with happy and sweet days for all of us.

  2. Yuck. Uber fertiles are annoying. Getting lapped by them is even MORE annoying. My old boss is about to have her second kid next month. She got pregnant with her first a couple of months after we started trying.

But that's great news about ovulating and lots of BDing. I hope you have a great weekend! :)

Big UGH about little miss fecund there! And you have to hear it all the time. Make sure to report to us the most outrageous stuff you hear.

  10. Ugh, dept secretary needs to make her smarmy personal calls on her own dang time and not loudly in the office. And telling you that your mom wants grandchildren?! Suck it, lady! I'm so sorry about the lapping and the ridiculous textbook fertility she's shoving in your face. Hooray for ovulating and well timed BD'ing! L'Shana Tova!

  11. ahhh, i remember "planning" -- i actually even remember telling a colleague of mine, when she told me that her & her husband were going to start trying, "it could take a while" -- secretly thinking that it wouldn't really, because *everyone* says that, but they know it really doesn't/isn't going to take that long. *sigh* perhaps i jinxed myself when i said that.

about the woman you work with whose daughter is having another one..i know what you mean. recently a colleague of mine (who is in her early 60s) blurted out at the table that he daughter was pregnant again -- and then went on to crap on how selfish her daughter was for having a THIRD baby and didn't she know how much more WORK it was going to be for her (as in, HER, the grandmother) !!! wtf? it was all i could to refrain from beating her face in with the salt shaker that was next to me -- i mean, how DARE her daughter get pregnant again because it will mean more work for her mother. i was about to stand up and shout at her that she should be happy that her daughter can GET pregnant and STAY pregnant because some mothers don't get that with their daughters....but i didn't. instead i said nothing and got up and walked out. my heart hurts hearing things like that. :(

i wish you a happy, sweet new year.

(i am not jewish, but i work at a jewish school and i just love all the jewish holidays. i love all the community & togetherness that they bring)
