I'm not Beyoncé

When I heard Beyoncé was pregnant I was, of course, jealous and rolled my eyes a bit.  (Why?  I don't know.  I'm just a hater about pregnant women, I guess.  Especially famous ones.)  But, then someone pointed out that there had been rumors that she and Jay-Z might be going through infertility.  (I can't believe I'm talking about Beyoncé and Jay-Z on my blog...)

So, then I started thinking -- what kind of support system would Beyoncé be able to find if she were going through infertility?  Who would she turn to?  It must be tough.  She couldn't go on-line like we do.

Then I realized that of course she could.  She could be anonymous.  She'd have to hide the trail well, but it could happen.

In fact, she could be anyone I know.  How do I know that all of you aren't totally making up the outside life you have beyond IF?  You could all be award-winning international singing sensations for all I know.

So, then I started thinking about the women I knew on-line who were just about pregnant enough to show the way she did at the VMAs.

And that's when I started to realize that I was losing it.

...

Just a few more days of hope for a last minute miracle here.

(And, no, I swear I'm not Beyoncé.  Really.)

(And now I've got "Single Ladies" stuck in my head...)

  2. I make up stories about the preggos I see all the time - famous or not! Especially when I see late 30ish/40ish women with babies. I think, 'Aww....after 5 IVFs! Good for her!'

My husband thinks I'm nuts. :)

  4. HAHAHA Spill your detective work! I want to know who your top suspects are.

If Beyonce ends up to be carrying twins and denies IF, she better not trash talk treatments like Jennifer Lopez did! I know they live private lives and it takes courage to come out of the IF closet, but I so wish celebrities would advocate for IF!

  8. HAHA would you believe it, I was thinking the exact same thing!!! "Here I am being a jealous biatch that Beyonce is pregnant. Of course she is, everyone on the planet is going to have a baby before me. But wait, maybe they've been dealing with IF too!!" So ridiculous, but you're right, Jill, it would be nice if some more IF celebs would talk about it! P.S. I don't believe for a second that Mariah Carey's twins or JLOs were conceived au natural!!

  13. I'm not Beyonce, but maybe I am a different celeb? Naw, I couldn't make a fictitious life up and stick to the story. I do wish there was more honesty when it comes to Hollywood. Thanks for the laugh!

  14. The way she rubbed her belly, I don't believe they went through infertility. Maybe that's just me, but a woman who has truly gone through the heartbreak of infertility doesn't do that. At least in front of other people.

  15. I am not Beyonce, but I also would not feel bad if she went through IF. she would've done it with all the resources and support that money can buy. If she was needing to take off for a month during treatments, she wouldn't need to worry that she would not be able to pay her rent or buy groceries. I am sure it is emotionally hard for celebs, but the stress level has got to be less than normal people who have real world stresses. They never have to worry about their car breaking down on the way to the RE appt :)

  16. Weird, I commented on this and now its gone. Whatever the comment was, it was surely witty! And now I have to try to re-create wit. Hmmm.

I dunno. I loved this post but if you had told me one of my bloggie friends was going to post about Jay-Z today I would have been bowled over when I learned it was you! :)

  17. Oh this is great! I love it... Although the thought went through my mind as I watched the clips of her dancing all over the stage, no infertile would dance like that...

That would be so cool if one of us was a famous celeb. Hmmm who could it be?

Hoping for your last minute miracle...

  21. I just found this list of celebrities having their babies via IVF. Some I truly like. IF is everywhere. Really.

  22. You are hilarious.

I think there are a lot of IVF celebs. I mean, think of the large amount of older women having B/G twins. Of course, they all deny it because how terrible would it be to admit that they are IF? (I'm not sure why, but the stigma is there...) But Mariah, JLo,...the numbers are there.

  23. Sorry I'm just now commenting - being out of town got me WAY behind! But I feel the same way you do about this. Right after I watched the footage (because I didn't watch it live) I wrote a nasty twitter message about her. My fertile HS friend pointed out that she may have had to spend lots of money to conceive. I wrote back 'true! but that as an infertile woman I can't help but add my 2 cents.' And it's true. I wonder if that will ever change?

  24. funny, i've had the same thought! how do ppl in the limelight deal w/ IF? i think it has to be esp hard. And then if they're anon, they couldn't really vent about it being hard to be in the spotlight while going through if b/c it would out them....interesting how much fame would complicate it all! maybe there's a famous IF blog community that we don't even know about..lol.
