Hello new readers and old alike!
For anyone here that's new -- Welcome!! My overly detailed history is on the sidebar. A brief summary:
In 30 months of trying we've had (in order):
10 months of failed tries on our own, 1 blocked tube, 1 RE, 3 canceled cycles on Clomid, 1 hysteroscopy, 4 failed Femara IUIs, 1 "on our own" pregnancy, 1 missed miscarriage, 7 more months of failed tries on our own, 1 new RE, 1 fibroid, 1 laparascopy, 1 2-month "pause"
Which leads us to now: The 2ww of our first Follistim IUI with 3 nice sized follies, 1 great uterine lining and 1 awesome post-wash sperm count.
I can already tell that this wait is going to be a doozy. About midday Friday (the day of the IUI) my boobs started hurting like hell. So, I'm going to guess that follies have been popping and eggs are released and progesterone is shooting up!
Speaking of progesterone. I started the suppositories today. I'm not sure how necessary it will be (given the boob pain pre-suppository), but I'm definitely up for anything that might help. Also, it will give me something to focus on "doing" for the next two weeks until test day -- on April Fool's Day.
When I was picking up the prog, the pharmacist gave me a few tips. One of which was "make sure to take OFF the aluminum foil first." Apparently, she had someone call her after using them for four days and say "uh, was I supposed to take off the aluminum?" Yes, she had a hooha full of aluminum foil!!
I'm going to a conference later this week and I'm wondering how the foil wrapped pills are going to show up on the x-ray scanner! I seriously don't want to have to explain that one. Especially with my male colleagues standing next to me at security. "Um, no, Mr. TSA officer, I'm not trying to smuggle drugs in my luggage. It's just my vag suppositories. No biggie."

Feel for you if you have to open up your case and explain at security ! A bit awkward :( With you on the 2WW... I agree that feeling like you're doing something really does help xoxo

could you get a letter from your doc re the progesterone tablets just in case? when i went o/s i had a letter from my endo about my medication, just in case. of course no one asked me any questions at all, but it's nice for peace of mind.

The aluminum foil is priceless.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about TSA--we traveled for two out of state IVFs with all kinds of needles and meds and just had a doctor's note. They were honestly more interested in the cold packs.
You're going to test on April Fool's? Oh no! And that's hilarious about the aluminum foil!!! Unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteI hope this TWW goes by quickly for you. I know what you mean about keeping busy with the progesterone. I found tracking my temp and taking the supps were a great distraction for me.

OMG, someone had fully wrapped suppositories in their v-jayjay?!?! CRAZY!!! Hope your trip goes well. I had to take a drip with vials and needles and remember being so freaked. It was totally anticlimactic =)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the 2ww...I know it's brutal, but distract yourself funny thoughts of foil in the vag and you'll get through it.
ReplyDeleteI flew on a couple different occasions with the prog supps and had no problems, even without a doc's note. When I flew with the injection meds I had the doc's note, but again TSA wasn't at all interested. You should be fine, and be able to keep it a secret from your male colleagues:)
Stopping over from ICLW from #63 & #153. Best of luck with your 2ww. I hate the waiting game :-) I dont understand why they have people do progesterone with IUIs. I'm not quite sure its necessary. Hope your IUI brings you 9 months of joy.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, foil in your hoo-ha cannot be comfortable.... :) As others have said, no worries on the traveling. I've traveled with both injectibles and supp's and the TSA didn't even bat an eye. Hope the trip distracts you from the 2ww!
